UNFPA Bangladesh : Towards Better Reproductive Health and Gender Equity and Equality
UNFPA is guided by, and promotes, the principles of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (1994). In practice, UNFPA affirms its commitment to reproductive rights, gender equality and male responsibility, and to the autonomy and empowerment of women everywhere. UNFPA recognizes that all human rights, including the right to development, are universal, indivisible, interdependent and interrelated. This booklet describes the activities of UNFPA in Bangladesh.

Success Stories
UNFPA assisted Projects have achieved varying degrees of success. In this small booklet, the success achieved in five UNFPA projects implemented during the last UNFPA country Programme (1998-2002) is recorded. The projects are : I Strengthening Delivery of Reproductive Health Activities 2. Support to Advocacy activities through the information and Motivation (IEM) Unit, Directorate of Family Planning, 3. Family Welfare and Reproductive Health Education and Services for Garment workers 4. Involvement of Religious Leaders in Human Development and 5. Department of Population Sciences” University of Dhaka. Independent consultants have reviewed the projects and they have reasonably identified the success achieved and the shortcomings. It is expected that the success achieved in different areas will encourage others to invest in these areas. These stories also provide us lessons for considerations while developing programmes/projects.
